Articulating objectives and set targets for the Ministry with focus on monitoring and evaluation activities.
Articulating modalities for the implementation of new system introduced to ensure effectiveness in the Ministry.
Assisting in removing the major weaknesses in the management and operational systems in the Ministry.
Coordinating progress reports from other departments and keeping custody of same.
It also serves as secretariat for budget ministerial tender board.
It serves as ministerial budget secretariat there by working in collaboration with other departments for immediate and long term plans for development.
It coordinates with relevant organization and institution on matters related to planning, research, statistics and data management particularly by the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning.
The department has standard soil material testing laboratory that take care of both Government and Private Organizations that are involved in engineering construction as well as agricultural research.
It operates as a special department in rendering extra ministerial function.
